Bats:

Bats are mammals, not insects.

A mother bat will feed her baby while she is flying around. The baby holds on to her fur and sucks milk from her.

The voices of adult bats are too high for human ears to hear.

Bats feed on insects.

Bats are nocturnal; that means that they are active at night.

Bats live in caves, or even in the lofts or attics of houses.

Bats that live in England or Ireland do no harm to people

Mark makes friends with the two young bats.

Do they like him because he laughs at their jokes?

Or perhaps because he can make jokes himself?

Jokes are a good way to make friends.

Either buy or get a joke book out of the library.

Learn some jokes.

Practise them on your dad or your mum first.

Then try them out on someone friendly.
