Fact File During World War II thousands of children were evacuated from their homes in London and in south-east England where the bombing was most severe. Many of these were sent to Wales. The children were often very unhappy at being separated from their families and after the first year were often brought back to their own homes. Some children were very well-treated by kind people but others were not so well-treated.
