Fact File
Dress in the 5th century for a girl would have consisted of a linen tunic, leine, probably fairly long, and a cloak or bratt which was made from wool and would have reached to the girl's ankles. A girl would have worn her hair in plaits until she was of marriageable age. A boy would have worn basically the same clothes, but his tunic would have reached only to his knees. Both of them would have worn a pouch, instead of having pockets.
