Punishments under Brehon law were usually a fine of some sort and the amount of the fine depended not only on the crime; but also on the 'honour price ' of the victim.
A king was worth 21 - 42 ounces of silver;
A poet:  21 ounces of silver.
A Brehon: between 5 and 3 ounces of silver.
A Physician: 3.5 ounces.
Silverwright: 3.5 ounces.
