Computers were invented about the middle of the 20th century. In the beginning they were very slow and not able to do much. By the late seventies they were improving, but even then their memory was only about 2K - about 32000 times less memory than a modern computer in the year 2000. It is said nowadays that computers double in size, double in speed and halve in cost every four years.
