Fact File

The ship was 882 feet long, 94 feet wide and 180 feet high. It was able to go at a speed of 24 knots.
It  had only 16 lifeboats - giving 1178 spaces for 2252 people on board - only enough spaces for less than half of the passengers and crew.
The
Titanic did have a Marconi room - unusual at the time - and the operators continued sending out signals until the very last moment when the ship was sinking.
