Draw...!

Draw a picture of a car from 1912.

Fact File

. The first gas-powered vehicles looked like horse buggies. They were usually called horseless carriages. A man with a red flag walked ahead to warn people in case their horses were frightened.
In 1909 the first Rolls Royce was made.
In the early days, the cars could not go above thirty miles an hour.

Explore...!

Ask your parents' or teacher's permission to look up the history of cars on the Internet - or get a book out of the library. Try to find a Daimler and a Bentley and a Silver Ghost (Rolls Royce)

Imagine......!

Imagine that you were living over a hundred years ago and that you came forward in time. Write a description of what a busy motorway or dual carriageway looks like now.

Imagine a world without cars. Do you think that the invention of cars was a good thing? Write down the arguments for, or against (or even both!). Organise a class debate and get everyone to use their imaginations.
