Draw...!
Draw a picture of an Edwardian lady or man.
Fact File
An Edwardian gentleman wore a three piece suit, a white shirt with a shin stiff collar which could be taken off the shirt and laundered separately. Out of doors, he wore a button-up overcoat, reaching to the knees and top hat, or a bowler hat.
An Edwardian lady wore a long, fairly narrow skirt reaching to her ankles, a jacket tucked in at the waist, often with a fur collar. She always wore a hat, usually rather large with a feather in it.
Explore...!
If you have a video of 'Titanic' ask your parents if you may look at the clothes there. Ask a librarian for a book about fashions in Edwardian days. Was there a difference between the clothes of the rich and those of the poor?
Imagine......!
Imagine that you are the dressmaker and write a description of the visit of Lady Victoria and the arrival of Kitty and Maggie and Mike. Make sure that you describe their appearance; a dressmaker would have been very interested in that.
Imagine that you are a modern boy and your mother buys you a sailor suit. Write a description of what you would feel.
