Naiha aged 12 from Bradford Girls Grammar School
"Beep Beep Beep," A steady beeping noise had broken the eerie silence of the night. Yet nothing stirred in the house except the mound underneath a mountain of duvets and blankets.
Swinging her legs around and placing one foot on the first floorboard and the other on the fifth, Jazz stood up.
"Why, out of all the new modern house did mum and dad pick out this, God-knows-how-many-centuries-old, dump." Thought Jazz as she carefully chose each step.
Silently she had reached her desk, silencing her watch, she checked the time.23:25. If she left now she would make the ceremony. With movements as rehearsed as an actors she glided around the room, stopping from time to time to move something ,sometimes a loose brick or floorboard, other times at the bottom of her messy drawer, and took out an item. She looked content at her work and then moved on to the bed.
Working quickly and efficiently she rearranged her pillows and duvets adding one large teddy bear and stepped back she looked contentedly at the out line of herself in bed. Next she lifted the corner of her mattress to reveal a back pack. Pulling it out carefully she checked each item over:
A simple white shift with white sandals
A metal cuff with a rose carving on
A dagger with the same carving on
A diary-this wasn't strictly on the list but it held great importance to her
Creeping over to the floor length mirror Jazz stared at the girl before her, head to toe in black leaving a slit for her eyes, hazel with flashes of gold in the light, her eyes showing the look of determination and fear.
With a last glance over her room, she slung her backpack on to her arm and left her vibrant orange and red room and disappeared into the night.
She was ready for the ceremony.Ready for her initiation. Her initiation into the library of life.

A wonderful title and a beautifully written introduction to an intriguing story - I can't wait to read more. You paint lovely pictures with your words - I loved the description of her moving around the room and I'm intrigued by the rose carving.
