Message:Competition for the best Christmas story.

I've now got the first entry. Get your entries in as soon as you can as I want time to post the prize (or prizes) to your school before the holidays.

The story can be any length, but it must be a story, not a poem.

Message:Niamh: When you go to school tomorrow you can choose a free book from one of my books in the bookclub. I talked to one of your teachers about it today after school.

Alannah: That's fine. I'll write it in at the bottom of the story.

Patricia: Have you ever read Anne Fine? I think you might like her. She's quite like Jacqueline Wilson.

Denise: I'll have a look at the poems tonight, but I'd prefer stories really, as it a story club, rather than a poetry club.

Tracey: I'm glad you are enjoying my book.

Message:Thanks Cora. i read out what you said in class and we all agreed with you. I still don't like Father Brendan, though. I think he's a savage.
By the way, Treachery at Midnight is brilliant. When is a new Drumshee Chronicle book coming out? I can't wait.

Message:Claire: That's an interesting point about Father Brendan in Treachery at Midnight. I suppose in some ways he was evil, but on the other hand he did teach Columba to read and to write and made him work on the beautiful manuscripts such as the Book of Kells. That artistic side of Columba may never have come out if Father Brendan had not taught him.

Message:Patricia: That's great - I look forward to getting the extra bits. If you end up as a writer, you'll find that no better how brilliant a story is, it always needs a bit of polishing up before it's ready for the market.
Alannah: I'm not sure if I will have a second and third prize - I suppose it depends on whether there are loads of entries. I suppose it would be a good idea to publish the three best stories.
Patrick: Nice to hear from you. How is school? I think I met one of your teachers from Ballincollig when I was in Cork in October. My new books are on the first page of this website.

Message:Hi Cora were reading Treachery at Midnight for a class novel and we've come to the really exciting tense bit in the middle.
Why I'm writting is that the class and the teacher disagree about Father Brendan. We all think he is really evil but our teacher says he has good points. What do you think?

Message:I had to change your section a little, Roisin. I don't think that you read the sections that went before, written by other people.
Also, you must not end the story unless I tell you because then it spoils other people's fun. That would have been much too quick an end to make a good story.

Message:Christmas Story Competition:

I thought it might be a good idea to have a competition for the best Christmas story. The prize will be one of my last three books, so when you send in your story, say which book you would like and, if you win, I'll send it to your school.
