Name: Cora Harrison
Message:Jessie: It was lovely to hear from you. Funnily enough I was thinking about today as I came back through County Limerick from Emly. I've still got the 'I've read 'Gorgeous' badge that you've made for me when we met at O'Mahony's last May!
Maryanna: You should tell the librarian that she should buy another few copies of 'Gorgeous'. I'm sure she will if you suggest it. I know how you feel. I hate having to wait for a book when I want to read it.
Claire: Yes, I will definitely try a sequel. Which do you think would be best: writing about Fern's summer holiday, or about her first term at secondary?

Message:Alannah, Emma & Anne-Marie: Thanks for your stories for the Christmas Competition. I can see that I will have a lot of reading to do next Friday. There are only four more days left so remember, if you want to enter, you must send your story by Friday 10 December.

Patricia: I look forward to receiving your story. It's good fun to experiment with a different style. I did that when I wrote 'Gorgeous' and it has proved to be very popular.

Emly School, Tipperary: Thanks for the lovely morning. I hope you enjoy the books.

Message:Hi Cora, Treachery at Midnight is great. I think it's your best book ever.
Hi Aimee & Sinead My class did Famine last term and my teacher download the worksheet from this website and we had a great time making models and drawing pictures and writing stories.
Cora: I think you should write a sequel to Famine. I'd say it would sell very well as loads of people like Famine 1

Message:Sorry, Alannah, that was stupid of me. My only excuse is that I'm very tired at the moment - a bit too many schools and libraries!
You are an excellent writer, Alannah. One of the best that I have ever met for your age. I think I particularly like some of the bits that you put on the 'The Great Adventure' story, but all of your stories are well-written and they all have clever ends.
I think, though, that if you are to become a famous writer in the future, and I would not be surprised, it is important to write stories about the life you know - use your imagination, but ground it in reality. Fantasy may well be your sort of thing, but have the children or adults in it be just as they are in your everyday life.

Message:Thanks for putting my story on the Story Board! You know how you commented at the end, well you said you liked the "School Crisis" stories better. I never wrote them, a girl called Heather wrote them. I just wanted to say that to you, in case you had made a mistake.

Message:Aimee & Sinead: When I was writing Famine Secret at Drumshee I had in my mind a model of Ennistymon Workhouse that I had seen in the local library. The librarian gave me a copy of the plans. It showed where the punishment cell and the girls' and boys' yard were placed.
Glad you liked 'Gorgeous', Aimee. I'm thinking of writing a sequel. If you know any girls in first year secondary could you get them to write to me. I'd love to get an idea of how secondary school seems to them.

Patricia: I'm looking forward to your story. I really like the way that you write. It gives me a great feel of how girls of your age think. You will be one of my inspirations!

Message:Aoife: Thanks for the lovely long story. I've added it to the Christmas story file.
Denise: Yes, I did read your two poems, but I have said that I'm only going to put stories on the Story Club board. You see, a poem that only takes a few minutes to write, and to read, will occupy the same slot as a story of about two thousand words that has, perhaps, taken a week to write. I'm getting a lot of stories, so I'm not putting any poems on. in any case, I'm not a poet myself so I can't judge or offer any help.
I'd love to get a story from you. Why don't you try one?

Glad you liked the talk - yes, I am considering a sequel to Gorgeous - the trouble is that I don't know secondary school life as well as I know primary school life. Perhaps Amy Mc will write a bit for me!
Mary: I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the discussion on the Gorgeous worksheet. I'm glad your teacher found them. If anyone else wants to see them, just click on worksheets on the front page of this website.
Alannah and Sarah: I've put your stories on the Story Club board.

Message:Angela, Sam and Sarah Kirwan from St Conaire's: Many thanks for your stories. I loved the bit about the snow, Sarah. I wonder will we have snow for Christmas this year!

Patricia: As soon as a Christmas story comes I just send it straight to a special file. I'm not going to read them until December 10 as then I will be able to judge them one against another. You see sometimes when I come back from visiting schools I might be tired and might get a bad impression of a story. This way it will be more fair.
