Message: | secondary school is grand. I'm in third year now, so i have alot of work with the mocks and the junior cert coming up. I really enjoyed the book, I read it the other day.You had some very good ideas that I would have never thought off. It was one of the best books I read in a long time. I went back with the book to the primary school, but they they allowed me to keep it. Best of luck, Sarah Kiernan

Message: | Alannah: I think when you wrote the school story, although you set it in Connemara, it didn't sound as if it were an Irish school. To be honest, it sounded more like something from a book that you had read. Do they have 'Proms' in Ireland? It sounds quite American to me. Why don't you try again, but this time set it in a day school. You would have more experience of a life in a day school - and make the teachers real people, a mixture of nice and not -so-nice.

Message: | Thanks for putting my story on the Story Board. I agree with your advice and I might write it out again in a different way and send it to you. Has much people sent competition stories to you and will there be joint winners like last year. I don't think I'm going to win this one because I'm better at writing about fantasy than modern school. Somebody like Patricia or Heather will win, but I'll try anyway.

Message: | Could everyone remember to let me know which one of my books they would like if they win the January competition. Thanks for your story, Alannah. I've got the two bits of it safely. Yes, I'd love a review of 'Treachery at Midnight'. I think my next two books won't be coming out until August/September. One of them is called 'Doomed to Die' and the other is called 'A Life for a Life'.

Message: | Dear Sarah, It's nice to hear from you and thanks you very much for giving me the idea of linking Drumshee with Kells. I'm sorry it was the wrong name; I couldn't remember your name and went through the old messages on the www.drumshee.com site (which no longer exists) and must have found Sheila Kiernan and immediately jumped to the conclusion that this was the right name. How are you enjoying secondary school? I'd love a story showing life as it is really like in secondary school.

Message: | Alannah: Thanks. Jessie: For the competition, you do your own story and just post it to me through the Story Club slot. It's just coincidence that the present 'running' story is of the same theme. However, it's good, really, because it gives everyone a chance to try out ideas before sending in their final story.

Message: | Heather: Yes, you can choose anyone of my books - perhaps if it's a one that came out a long time ago you should give a second choice in case I don't have one to spare. Alannah: Which story are you talking about? I put Penny's New Pet on the Story Board. I wonder would people like me to change my mind about having only one entry per person? it might be better for you to be able to send in more than one story and then let me choose. However, ONLY FINISHED STORIES will be considered so take your time and don't rush a few lines to finish off a story. If you can't think of anything, just put it aside for a day or so.
