Message:Here is my review for "Treachery at Midnight":
I thought it was excellent. I especially liked the fair at Coad. I felt as if I was watching Columba kill Conan; it seemed so real. Columba seemed very talented at drawing and Sorcha was so interesting.
I thought it was really sad when Honey was killed because Honey was one of my favourite characters. Father Brendan was really evil.
I would give "Treachery at Midnight" 10/10.

Message:Cora: I just sent you the first chapter for my story for the school competition.
I am going to send it to you by chapters because I don't think I'd have enough time to write the whole thing.

Message:Hi cora
I'd love to meet you but don't know if I can any time soon as I'm in 3rd year ,our mocks start next week and I am really busy with study.I mightn't be the best person for art so I'll talk to a few of my friends and see if they can come up with anything. Thats great about the title!!!

Message:Christina: I'm delighted you like the look of my books and the worksheets. Have you tried Amazon for the books. Most people in America seem to get them from there.

Ursula: My publisher likes your suggestion for a title for 'Gorgeous 2'. He thinks 'Twice as Gorgeous' sounds great. Have you any brilliant suggestions for a cover, now?
By the way, I was in Shannon, at St Pats on Monday. I must have been quite near to your school. I'd love to meet you and some of your friends and pick your brains so that Gorgeous 2 becomes a best-seller!

Message:Cora, I have found your books and worksheets on the internet and absolutely love them. I would love to be able to buy your books, but I am from the United States and no one carries them. Do you know any other way for me to get them? Any help you can give is appreciated.

Message:Alannah: That's a shame. How I got it was by typing the words "writing competitions children" into Google (the search engine on the Internet). I think the BBC have one also, but I thought Listowel would be good as it is in Ireland.
The trouble is that publishers will only pick out one book in a thousand from new authors to publish and I think your age would be against you. It might be worth a try, but ring first and say how long the book is. You could try O'Brien Press. They probably publish more children's books than anyone else in Ireland and they are the only ones that get a grant from the Arts Council.

Message:Ursula: Thanks for the story. I thought it was very good and very true-to-life. Do you want me to put it on the Story Board straightaway, or to keep it for the competition.
Kit & Michelle: Thanks for the messages.

Message:Cora: My mom phoned the competition person but unfortunately my story's way too long. There's four more competitions though, but I can't enter "The weird week" in one of them. Do you know any long story competitions that I could enter my story in to?

Message:Dear Lily,
Yes, I am thinking of writing a 'Gorgeous 2'. I'm looking for help in thinking of a new title, ideas for the next book and various things about teenagers going to secondary school.
Which part of the country do you live in, Lily?

Message:Alannah: No, I didn't guess.

Ursula: Yes, I'd love a story. The story for the competition can have any title you like but it must be a modern story, set in a modern school.

Message:Patricia: I very much liked the style of your story, but it did seem to have a few gaps in it. Try reading it aloud. I know it sounds stupid to sit in a room reading aloud to yourself, but it does work. You can always have the radio on so that your family don't think you're mad. It's even better to read it to someone, but they have to be really listening, not just pretending to listen

Message:Cora: Thank you so, so, so much for putting my story on the Story Board! I am really interested in entering my story in the competition. Do you think I should put the changes that you told me in it before I send it?
By the way, did you guess who had stolen the leather box in the story?

Message:Ursula: To enter a story, go to Story Club, then click on Story Club up on the top right-hand corner facing you. You will then see a form. You write your name, your age, and your school and then paste your story in. It's a good idea to do it in Word first and spellcheck it and start a new line when each new person starts to speak.

Message:Alannah: Your story is now on the Story Board and I've given you some advice about it. It's a wonderful story. I enjoyed it immensely. What I meant by Gothic Horror is a type of story where terrible things happen. I suppose you could say that the Baudelaire books are Gothic Horror.

The new closing date for the competition for a story set in a modern school in Ireland is February 15 2005. The story can be as long, or as short as you wish.
