Message:I have about 8 pages left to type- I'm on 91.
When it's published, does that double for hald an A4 each? Or will it still only be 91. For example, would 40 become 80?

Message:Conor: Do you have all of the story already written, then?
If so, just send the whole lot to me and then we'll think what's needed in the way of revision.
Don't worry about it being too much - I'd prefer it that way.
Otherwise I'm just wasting my time giving you advice when you've already written the story.

Message:Yes, I do see what you mean, but since I already have it all written, I'll have to go over it and add things in. That's what I was saying.

Message:Conor: Don't worry about spelling nor about synonyms. That's the sort of stuff that can be easily attended to in editing.
But I disagree about leaving the building of an atmosphere until editing. That does need to be done while you are writing. Imagine that you an audience of restless ten-year-old kids in front of you. You have to engage their attention. They're not watching a play where people or acting, or, better still, a film where the scenery and environment form a background for the story. In a book all this has to be conveyed by words and only by words.

Message:It's only my first draft anyway, so I could probably fix that when I'm editing over it...
I have no Microsoft Word and spell check on OpenOffice is awful, so I might have spelling mistakes in it, and no synonyms.

Message:EdAnne: Is this the continuation of a story? If it is, i can't find the first bit. Could you resend the two (or more) together. I do remember your name so I'm sure that it's somewhere, but I am too busy this morning for huge searches. I have to get a book to an editor by Monday.

Message:Conor: Sorry; i've been ill with a chest infection. Your story is going on this morning.

I still think that there is much too much dialogue - if you read the beginning of your story you will see a difference in tone.

Message:Conor: I've just put your latest bit of the story on - it's very good, but I still would like more of a background description of the places that they are in - I have very little visual impression - and for the reader to be able to immerse themselves in the world of the book is very important.

Message:Yes, Cora, I understand...............
It's only, I have a whole idea for a storyline connecting to the Greek gods, so I decided to add it in...

Message:Very true, Conor, but I was looking at it from a publisher's point of view - they tend to go for a new and original idea.

Message:Well, it's not like demigods are an original idea................... they were often mentioned in Greek mythology, so anyone can use them.

Message:Conor: I'd be a bit worried about whether it feels as if it is too influenced by Rick Riordan (my grandson reads him so that is how I know about him)

If you want to reach a publisher an agent has to feel that what you produce is unique and something quite novel.

Still that is something that we can talk about.

Message:The e-book was in English.
Yes, Amazon deliver to Brazil, but we need to have an international card to buy. But I don't know my mom or my sister have this card.
I don't have a Kindle, but I think I'll buy next year. Oh, now I remembered! Now, there is Amazon in Brazil!!!! But only e-books, but I think the next year they will sell books. :)

Message:Megan: I love long stories. One boy's story is already 15,000 words so go ahead. What I'm not so keen on are these three or four lines - it doesn't seem as if much an effort is being made, then.

Message:Hey Cora, my story is very long but do you think i should type it up or not? i wrote it in P7.

Message:Hope it's ok, now, Brigid.

I was going to ask whether you would try to send me longer sections of story because few lines is as much as trouble as ten pages and it does waste my time (which is very limited at the moment) if stories come in just a few lines at a time.
Save it up and re-read it and then send it to me.
