Message:Paula: It must have been exciting getting your secondary school uniform. Did you do OK in your summer tests?

Ann Marie: I usually write in my spare bedroom. It's nice and quiet there and I can concentrate ,and look out on the green hill opposite.

Aoife F.: I'm afraid there are no new Drumshee books for the moment. I am too busy with my work for an English publisher.
Good luck with your last day in school. Does everyone cry on their last day?

Message:Ann Marie: You're quite right. I should give my news. The trouble is that I lead a boring life. I do some writing then I go for a walk, then I do some more writing, sometimes, or else I do some gardening, or I read a book or I take the dogs around the farm.
I suppse my most exciting news is that my book for adults is going to be published in England, America and Germany next year.

Aoife=): I'm going to wait for a while before doing another children's book as I am busy writing book 2 of my series for adults.

Message:Aoife Trench: That sounds great - lucky teachers! I hope all goes well with your end-of-term celebrations.

Amy N.: I don't think all of your stories were like that. I remember you used to write very well about ordinary girls of your age. I think the Jewish thing was a bit difficult to do, though.

Message:Hi, Cora
Me again! I SO can't wait for the summer holidays!! I'm in Sixth at primary and my class and I will be taking part in an end-of-year Mass at the end of June. But that isn't all. Everyone in the class has to chip in €10 to buy some prezzies for the teachers at our school! We have LOVELY things picked out for them and I really want the end-of-year Mass to go well!!
Love ya, Aoife. XxXx

Message:Paula: That's a shame that you were not there when I visited. I remember your school. I had a great morning there.

Amy: I took a few minutes to think and I then I remembered. Cobh, in Co. Cork - isn't that right? I remember your story, too. I think you were quite influenced by Marilyn Taylor's story at the time.
I would love a real teenage story - tell it just as it is and done't try to copy any other witer. It's your authentic voice that is valuable.

Message:Amy B.: I can't find any message of yours that wasn't put on the message board. I even looked in the 'deleted' file, just in case I deleted by mistake, but it wasn't there. What was it about?

Ann Marie: Happy birthday. I hope you had a great time at the party.

Paula: It would take me ages to tell you properly what got me into writing - when I go to schools it takes me about three quarters of an hour to tell it - but I suppose the short answer is that it was buying this farm where I live and being inspired by the fact that people have lived here, probably, for about two thousand years.
