Message:Hi Claire:
Utah is to the southeast of Idaho. It's great that you were at the top of the class. You must be a really good student. I'm the only person in my class, so I can't compare myself with anyone!

Message:Hi Bridget: Where is Utah (I'm too tired to look it up in the Atlas - I know I should.)
I'm working in my aunt's shop and I'm staying with them. It's a nice change from being at home and it's a break from school work. Yes, of course I'm going back in September. I'm still determined to be a doctor and it's very hard. I'll have to get top marks in my Leaving Cert. I keep thinking about that and it inspires me to work very hard. I was top of the class in almost everything this summer, but that's not good enough. I have to be outstanding to get the points.
Hope you had a great 4th of July. I was thinking about you today.

Message:Hi Cora:
I've been busy all summer, and I was at a swim meet in Utah for four days. Tomorrow, July Fourth, is America's Independance Day. We set off fireworks and read the Declaration of Independance. There is also a huge firework display at a park in our town.
Hi Claire:
What kind of a shop are you working in? Are you just working there until school starts again?

Message:Cillian: I don't think it's stupid. It probably shows that you are very self-critical - and that can be a good, as well as a bad, thing. Why don't you send the beginning of a story to me and then I'll prompt you (or nag you) to finish it.
The other thing you could do, for a change, is to write the ending to a story and then see how you could write a story leading up to this. I tried that a while ago in a school where I was doing creative writing and it worked out very well.

Claire: that sounds fun - and a change from school.

Ann Marie: I find it quite hard to write in the garden, even though I have a laptop and I thought I would enjoy writing under the shade. Somehow it doesn't work so well for me as working in my spare bed

Message:Thanks Cora, I still write stories yes but I start them and never finish them, which is stupid but thats what happens, its great to be back and I have added another bit to the story, i hope it can get up!

Message:Paula: It must have been exciting getting your secondary school uniform. Did you do OK in your summer tests?

Ann Marie: I usually write in my spare bedroom. It's nice and quiet there and I can concentrate ,and look out on the green hill opposite.

Aoife F.: I'm afraid there are no new Drumshee books for the moment. I am too busy with my work for an English publisher.
Good luck with your last day in school. Does everyone cry on their last day?

Message:Ann Marie: You're quite right. I should give my news. The trouble is that I lead a boring life. I do some writing then I go for a walk, then I do some more writing, sometimes, or else I do some gardening, or I read a book or I take the dogs around the farm.
I suppse my most exciting news is that my book for adults is going to be published in England, America and Germany next year.

Aoife=): I'm going to wait for a while before doing another children's book as I am busy writing book 2 of my series for adults.

Message:Aoife Trench: That sounds great - lucky teachers! I hope all goes well with your end-of-term celebrations.

Amy N.: I don't think all of your stories were like that. I remember you used to write very well about ordinary girls of your age. I think the Jewish thing was a bit difficult to do, though.
