Message:Hi Cora
Back to school tomorrow. I've been doing a bit of work during the last week as I want to be top of the class this year but this weekend my mam told me to relax so I've been rereading all of my Drumshee books. I know lots of them almost off my heart but I still love them. Thanks for writing them and giving so many people the pleasure of reading them. I don't think I'll ever grow out of them!

Message:Dear Madeline,
It was lovely to hear from you and I am delighted that you found my visit to Caherelly so useful.
Unfortunately, I am going to be very busy for the next six months or so and would be quite unable to go as far as Killmallock on a school visit.
However, I would love to answer any questions that the children may have if they would send them to this site. Which book are you reading with them?

Message:Paula: Don't worry about your story - the best thing is to do what you feel comfortable about. I love writing stories, and I hope that you do, also.
Brittany & Bridget: Your system is probably like the English one. Fifth class children in Ireland are the same age as Year Six in England. In England they go to secondary school after Year Six, so they go a year earlier than in Ireland.
Summer: My adult books are not out yet, but the children's books can be bought from Amazon on the Internet.

No, Pebbles doesn't have any diseases that we know of. Our pet shop takes fairly good care of its animals.

Message:Aoife & Bridget: Nice to hear from you. I must say, that I would not be too keen on rats. Is it safe? I suppose since it's a pet, it wouldn't be the health hazard that ordinary rats can be.

Nicole: Thanks for your contributions to the story.

Message:Hi Cora and Claire:
My little sister, with contributions from the rest of us, got a baby rat today and named it Pebbles. I didn't really want a rat, but now that I've held her she just seems so adorable! Sorry if it seems like a weird message, but I just thought I'd tell you.

Message:Hi Bridget:
The way it goes over here in Ireland is National, or Primary School until sixth class (that's junior infants, senior infants, and then right up from first to sixth). After that comes secondary (First Year - up to Sixth Year) and we have Junior Cert. at fifteen, then transition (but I'm going to skip that as I think it's a waste of time) and then Leaving Cert. and that's a two year course. You can do any number of subjects in that, but points only come from your best six subjects. I need to get about 590 points out of six hundred so you can see why I'm working really hard, even though I am only a second year student.

Message:Bridget: That's very interesting about the American educational system.
By the way, I've put your chapter seventeen on the Story Board. We must gather them all together, now, so that people who are new to the Story Club can read the whole book.

Message:Hi Claire:
Our grade system is probably a lot like yours, just with different names for the tests. Up until about eighth grade (for you it would be eighth class, I think) everyone has to take SATS twice a year that show how much you've learned. We have Elementary Schools, Junior Highs, High Schools, and College. College and Graduate School are optional.
Our weather is pretty warm, but we manage to keep our house pretty cool without air conditioning.
My favorite subjects are Literature, History, Grammar, and Life Science. I'm okay at Math, but I don't really like it. Good luck becoming I doctor!

Message:Paula: A story doesn't have to be wonderful to send it to me. In fact, if it were perfect, then there would be no point.
If, however, that there are some bits where you think you might need a bit of help, then you might find it useful to send it to me. If you like, I'll just read it and reply and not put it on the Story Club Board until you are satisfied with it.

Message:Sarah: No, I'm not at the moment as I am occupied with my books for adults. However, I do have another Drumshee Chronicles book written. It is about the time, after the treaty of Limerick, when the priests were banned from Ireland, but they often worked secretly. The name of it is WHO BETRAYED HIM?
Bridget: It is about 59 degrees Fahrenheit here today and it is pouring rain! I suppose you are having a lovely time swimming in the hot weather in America.
