Message:Kristine: I forgot to say that my book for adults , 'My Lady Judge', will come out on May 4 (or thereabouts) and, yes, it should be available from Easons, though it is published by an English publisher, Macmillan.

Message: Karina: I was just thinking that the story of Colonel Blood and the crown jewels would make a great story to write. You should try it some time. The Bloods had a house near here, Applevale House, and I used the ruins of it when I wrote 'Drumshee Rebels'

Kristine: It's easy to lengthen a chapter if you put in some few lines of description between the conversation, or else describe what one of the characters is thinking or a bird singing or the sound of the wind, or something like that. It often gives pace to a story. Think of it as trying to put the reader into the scen you are describing.

Katie: Your Oscar is probably about the size of my Oscar's head: he is a huge dog and weighs about 65 kg - without an trace of fat.

Message:Cora: I sometimes put a thousand words, maybe less if I'm tired. But I'll aim for 2000 words now. The reason I asked is that I was never sure how long to make chapters and then I thought that I had always found yours to be a nice lenght so I thought I'd ask.
Also, another question...I'd like to get your new book for my aunt. Is is availiable yet and if so where can I get it? Would it be availiabe in places like Eason's?

Message:Kristine: That is a very interesting question and you will find that there is no easy answer to it. Some of the best writers just make chapters any length that they wish - sometimes just a page whereas someone like myself tries to make chapters roughly even.
Just to say what I do - and that doesn't mean that you should do it - I make chapters for my children's books about two thousand words, and chapters for adult books about four thousand words. But, having said, that, I do find that in some of my books recently I have some chapters of six thousand words, and then others of only three thousand words.
I think that the best advice is to put a chapter break whenever you think that story is taking a new turn.

Message:Cora: I'm working now on Chapter 3 of the story, and I was wondering what lenght I should make it? I usually do short chapters but if there's any lenght you prefer would you let me know?

Message:Karina: You have an unusual surname - does your family originally come from Co.Clare? There was a family with that surname lving near here and one of the members of the family was involved in a plot to steal the crown jewels (a few hundred years ago).
Katie: You are puzzling me. I have put all of your messages on the board. Have a look down and you'll see them.
Maurice: I don't quite understand your message which you sent to the Story Club. Could you explain. By the way, it's a bad idea to put your personal email address on any Internet site so I haven't posted your message. You never quite know who might be looking at these sites, even though they are meant just for young people who like my books.

Message:Cora: Thanks so much for your comments of the end of "God Bless Queen Bess". I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'm starting a more modern story now, with a little bit of history mixed into it. I don't really write modern stories that often so I'm really excited to get writing!

Message:Aisling and Kristine: Two great additions to your stories. They are in two very different styles but each is excellent. Aisling's is modern and Kristine's is historical, but each show life as experienced by a young girl.

Message:Karina: Thanks for writing. I'm glad that you like 'Gorgeous'. It's a very popular book. How did you make the model of Fern?
I'm not sure whether I came to your school, or not. I did go to Wicklow once, I think, but I go to so many places that they all blur in my mind, a bit.
I liked your entries to the story. Have you written any stories yourself? If so you could send one to the Story Club and I'll put it on.
