Name: Cora Harrison
Message:GirlReader: I'm not quite sure what you are talking about - perhaps it is an interview of me by some blog writer. There was something about what actors would play the parts of the characters in 'Debutantes' on the Pan Macmillan website - 'MYKINDABOOK' - perhaps that's what you are looking for.

Ciaran: If you are looking for books about boys written by me I would suggest THE LONDON MURDER MYSTERIES - there are six of them and Alfie, Sammy, Jack & Tom - and Mutsy the dog are all boys - there is only one girl in the books and that is Sarah.

Message:Hi Cora!
I wondered where that other site of yours is, the one where you talked about what actors would play the characters in Debutantes, and what house you'd pick. I am searching frantically for it, so if you could help me out, that would be great.

Message:I've just finished reading Debutantes and loved it so much! I love the different layers of stories in one and how each character was so different and interesting. I can't wait to read IN LOVE. Also, I like how in the Jane Austen books and in Debutantes you add a little bit of fashion. You describe clothes so well!

Message:Taiane: Here you are - and thank you for asking me!

(1) I used to want to be an author when I was about ten years old, but then forgot about it until after I retired from teaching I had a very serious illness and it was when recovering from this that I started writing to pass the time. I was lucky enough to get a publisher for that book and then went on to write others – soon I will have achieved 50 published books!

(2) I was inspired to write ‘Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend’ when I found a book of the stories Jane wrote as teenager. These stories seemed to show such a wonderful sense of fun that they inspired me to depict her character as fun-loving and humourous.
(3) I was very excited when I heard that ‘Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend’ was to be published in Brazil – first of all because I knew that I had a very good fan (called Taiane) in that country and secondly because Brazil is such an exciting country that I would love to visit sometime. I would so love to see the wonderful beaches and the rain forests.

Message:(4) The message I wanted to pass on in my books about Jane Austen is firstly what a wonderful writer she is – her books and the characters in them are as relevant nowadays as two hundred years ago and secondly to allow others to share in my love of history – to allow them to submerge themselves in the past.
(5) What I would say to anyone who wants to write is to persevere – it’s not easy to write a whole book, but unless you do some every day – or every weekend – then you won’t achieve it. Secondly listen carefully to people talking and make little notes perhaps of things that they say which bring out their personality.
(6) I love reading historical novels.

(7) The hardest part of being a novelist is waiting to hear whether your publisher likes your book. The most rewarding part is when you get to a point about three-quarters of the way through the book that you are writing – the last quarter is like going downhill very fast on a bicycle.
(8) I think the best piece of advice that I can give a would-be author is to imagine (or even write down) your ending before you allow yourself to begin on the first chapter.
