Name: Cora Harrison
Message:Aoibheann: I'm so pleased you didn't guess. Have you read 'Murder at Drumshee'. That is about the same characters, but a year earlier.
Liam: How did you like the dog, Heidi? She is based on one of my favourite dogs. We bought her in England and she came to Ireland with us. I was heart-broken when she died.
Riona: At the moment my books are published in London, by Macmillan Press, but the Drumshee books were published in Ireland.
Sarah Patton: I have been hard at work on my book 'I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend.' I have a problem. I'm wondering how much to include about Jane Austen's handicapped brother.

Name: Cora Harrison
Message:Aoibheann: You could set it in the time of St Patrick - they definitely had slaves then and you probably know plenty about that time.

Did you guess the murderer in 'Murder Strikes Again?' (don't say the name!)

You probably found 'Rainbow' easy because you had planned it well beforehand.

Message:Cora: I don't find writing in that time at all hard.
I can plan out the scene with no problem. With rainbow, It was easy, because after a while, as soon as I started writing, Ideas just poured out.
By the way, I just finshed 'Murder Strikes Again.' I loved It!

Message:Aoibheann: I don't think that there was slavery in Ireland after about the eleventh century (1000). There were African slaves in Britain and in America up to the end of the eighteenth century.
Don't rush - take your time and think about what you are writing. It's quite difficult to write about a time when you haven't lived. Perhaps that's why you were so successful with Rainbow - everyone knows a bully and everyone is occasionally tempted to be a bully - even for a little while.

Message:Cora: I've read that series, it wasn't the sort of stuff that I usually read, but I did like it, I thought it was really imaginative. It made me think about how, when you're writing fantasy, it really is totally limitless, you can literally write whatever your heart desires. When I write fantasy, however, I always find myself pulling back on my ideas, thinking, "No, that's totally ridiculous!", but 'Northern Lights' really showed me that you don't have to do that and that fantasy can be whatever you want it to be.

Message:Sarah: I think I was inspired by living in a place where people have lived for over two thousand years. I wanted to tell their stories as I imagined them.
Aoibheann: Have you got a date for your story? I was wondering when you imagined it taking place.
Kristine: Have you ever read 'Northern Lights'?

Message:Cora: Journey to the River Sea? It's not one of my favourites by her, but she does these lovely historical romances, really beautiful, right up my street. She has an amazing one called "The Secret Countess", it's on my list of favourite books. I love her writing style.

Message:Sarah Patton: Yes, I would agree with you about Jacqueline Wilson. On the other hand, you have to judge a writer by the age group she writes for and there is no doubt but that she is hugely popular.
Aoibheann: I'm very much looking forward to your next story, btu do take time to do a little planning - and above all, know how you want the story to end (you can always change it if you get a better idea)
Kristine: I do mean to read Stephanie Meyer and I will let you know what I think when I do so. I think my objection to vampires probably applies to younger children than you. I read Darren Shan's first book and didn't care for it.

Cora: Stephenie Meyer is just amazing, her "Twilight" saga is really well-written, although I know you're not fond of vampires so maybe it's not for you. Anyway, I've just sent in the next chapter of "Anywhere But Here".

Message:Aoibheann: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I've been interested in the lists - I've read a few Jacqueline Wilson books - was very impressed by the first one that I read where a girl was in touch with her best friend who was killed in an accident - but less so with many of the later ones which I felt were rather lazy and re-using plots and characters.
I haven't read Stephanie Meyer, but am aware of what a phenomenon she is. Have read Jodi Curtin and thought them good - have never heard of Chris Higgins - male or female?
