Message:Megan: Let me know how you get on with your story.
Aoibheann: I like your new chapter. I'll try to put it on tonight - or else tomorrow morning.
Kristine: I understand what you are saying about Scar, but I think you need to tell your reader all of what you have just told me. It could be a very strong passage and I can imagine that you would write it very well indeed. You have to convey to the reader all of Scar's conflicting emotions - they would not necessarily guess them from what you have written. I look forward to how you would write that passage.

Message:And about the adoption - I researched it and it is legal, although it is a bit suspect, I agree. But, if he had a wife, the end of the plot wouldn't run as smoothly, the ends couldn't be tied up. So he sort of had to be single for it to work.

Message:Cora: That was actually the hardest part to write. I tried a lot of versions where she just said stuff to him, a couple where he didn't come back at all, but none of them really felt right. What I'm trying to do is move Scarlett away from being secretive and hiding her feelings from people, and bring her slowly towards being able to speak and actually tell people how she feels. That's why speaking to Nate about when he'd been gone just didn't feel right - it felt like she was going too fast. I needed some way to get her feelings out, but yet not in the proper way.

Message:Megan: When I read Aoibheann's message I suddenly thought of an idea. How about your Sharon founding a fan club for her favourite football team. She could recruit members and they could be making posters etc. Then perhaps there might be trouble between them and a fan club supporting another football team...

Message:Story Writing Advice:
1 Think of a main character (name him or her)
2 Give that main character a problem to be solved, or a goal to be achieved.
3 Think of a good ending
4 Think of a good beginning
5 Invent a twist in the middle - where everything seems to go wrong
6 Write your story

Mark: It's a good idea, before you start on a story, to think of an exciting adventure - if I were you I would involve the dog in something like tracking a lost child/helping to catch a robber or leading its owner to find buried treasure.
Kristine: Good luck!
Megan: In the dream is Sharon going to be playing football (you'd have to turn her into a boy, wouldn't you?), or is she just watching the match? I think it wouldn't be very interesting just watching a match.
Rebecca: Many thanks for your message - you actually put it on the guestbook for adults - this is the place for children.

Message:Cora: I hadn't thought of that but I'm glad that you pointed it out now! I'm bearing in mind that the chances are very slim, and to be honest I'm not expecting anything much out of this, but if I don't at least try, I know I'll regret it. Haha, I think it's mad that you thought I was an adult. By the way, I'm hoping to send in Chapter Fourteen of "Anywhere But Here" tomorrow.

Message:cora:A childrens author came into our school and told us about J.K Rowling and that her first book "Harry Potter", was turned down by a lot of publishers. Aparenntly they said that it would never seely and that it wouldn't work.Little did they know that they could have been the publisher of one of the most famous books of all time!

Riona: No age! Just very, very, good, or very, very lucky.
I think I have had about 28 books published - I was one of the lucky ones!

Message:Kristine: I would prefer if you didn't mention my name. I think it would be a great mistake because it might sound as though I had a hand in writing the story - all I really did was admire and encourage.
I think this is particularly important, because, I must confess, once or twice I have wondered whether perhaps you really were an adult - your writing style is very adult.
No, just be yourself. And remember it's a ten thousand to one chance - even if you were the most wonderful writer in the world. About fifteen publishers turned down JK Rowling
