Message: | I'm sorry, Elaine, but I have to say no. I used to do quite a number of school visits, but found myself getting increasingly exhausted (old age!) and last year resolved to give them up completely. Also I am very busy with writing books. I will have my fiftieth book published this year which will be exciting, an, I suppose, pretty good going for a retirement project. Why don't the children send the questions to my guest book. I promise to answer - even if there are 30 of them. Each child can have an individual message.

Message: | Hi Cora, I am a primary school teacher in Athenry.I am currently reading your book Gorgeous to my 5th class who are studying it as a novel. They are doing individual projects on the novel and it is also integrated into our anti-bullying week which is taking part this week. The children love the book and a lot of them can relate to different characters in the book.I don't know if you do school visits but I know the children would love to meet you and have so many questions to ask.It would be great for them to meet in person the author of the book they are studying. If this is possible can you please let me know. Thank you Elaine.

Message: | Dear Taiane, Yes, of course I remember you - my first fan from Brazil! And, recently, the publishers in Brazil have bought my second Jane Austen book and during these last few months I have been in correspondence with the translator - who writes to ask me what various things mean - like sprinkling sand over the ink of letter, that has been just written, in order to dry the ink. She is a very nice lady called Dilmo and I am sure that she will make a good job of the second Jane Austen book. It was lovely to hear from you - please do keep in touch. I love to hear from my fans as they are growing up. Graphic design sounds so interesting - and as for ballet, I would love to have have learned it when I was young.

Message: | Olá, Cora! Como vai? I wonder if you remember of myself. I'm the brazilian girl. Yeah, I know, a long time ago that I have written to you. I'm sorry! I'm doing lots of things. Learning english, guitar, ballet and graphic design. But I didn't give up on my dream of writing a book! I'll begin to work on it. I miss you, Cora! I wonder if I could send you a letter. See you later!

Message: | Well, that's wonderful! I'm so glad that I inspired you and I think your achievement is greater than mine, because I had no tv, no computers, i-pads etc. I love 'Emma' by Jane Austen, also - in fact I like all of her books except, perhaps, 'Mansfield Park' - though many people rate that book very highly, but the main character, Fanny, gets on my nerves - she's a bit too goody-good. Have you tried 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte - I loved that

Message: | Thanks Cora for your answers. They will be really useful for my Arts Award. In the 'about the author' at the start of your books, it says about you reading Pride and Prejudice when you were twelve. So that inspired me to read it before I turn thirteen next week, I've just finished it!

Message: | What made you want to become an author? I WANTED TO BE AN AUTHOR WHEN I WAS ABOUT TEN AS I LOVED READING SO MUCH. THEN I FORGOT ABOUT IT AND ONLY TOOK IT UP WHEN I RETIRED – AND I WILL HAVE MY 50TH BOOK PUBLISHED THIS YEAR. Where do your ideas for stories come from? A HARD QUESTION! I READ A LOT, AND ALWAYS HAVE DONE SO PERHAPS THAT IS IT. SOMETIMES I GET AN IDEA FOR A STORY BY LOOKING AT A MAP OF A PLACE AND BEING INTRIGUED BY A PLACE NAME.

Message: | Did you study creative writing at college or university? NO, I STUDIED FRENCH & GERMAN AT UNIVERSITY. What advice would you give to someone who is unsure whether to pick writing as a career? DON’T! QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER CAREER – SUCH AS TEACHING OR LIBRARIAN AND DON’T GIVE UP THE ‘DAY JOB’ TOO SOON AS IT CAN BE VERY HARD TO GET PUBLISHED. SOME TEENAGERS HAVE WRITTEN BOOKS DURING THEIR SUMMER HOLIDAYS AND I THINK THAT IS GREAT – ESPECIALLY IF THEY MANAGE TO GET DOWN ON PAPER WHAT IT IS TO BE YOUNG.

Message: | Thanks for your message, Rebecca. I've been thinking about a third book - it would be about Rose, of course and her three sisters would be married ladies. Still, I think that Rose has enough personality to 'hold' a book so it might be rather fun - perhaps she is working as a journalist and a writer at the same time.

Message: | Thanks so much for writing the debutante books, I really love them and I especially like how all the Derrington girls have their own unique things that are passionate about, it makes them so much more interesting! I was just wondering if we devout fans can be expecting a third debutante novel anytime soon...?

Message: | Hi Cora, I have both Jane Austen books and Débutantes books and they are my favourite four books of all time and I know them inside out! You have definitely inspired me to write my own regency romance books. I would love to become an author one day. At the moment I am working on a Silver Trinity Arts Award in creative writing. For part of my project I need to research career paths and wondered if you would be able to answer a few questions via email? Many thanks! Sienna (aged 12)
