Message: | Aoibhe: Try getting a grown-up to help you. Or else, if it's short send it to the message board and I'll copy it in. Cora: Lovely to hear from my namesake again. Glad you like 'Famine' - as well as jane Austen, of course. Minnie: Yes, the combination of teacher and writer might work - especially in Ireland where the holidays are so long. In England it's a bare 6 weeks in the summer for secondary as well as primary. Kelley: Thanks. Have you tried 'Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend'. It's the sequel. You might get it at your library.

Message: | Kelly: I've just put your story on - it's great. Questions: what is your favourite book and author, why? author is probably Charles Dickens because I read first when I was seven and am still reading him 65 years later. What is your favourite book that you have wrote and why?? or do you like them all the same? I find it very hard to pick out a favourite book - they are all my children!

I think I will still be a writer, but on top of that I could work part time as something else perhaps. Well I sent you the other part of my story, and sorry this story is so long. There will be two other parts after it, and then Lorna and Joey's journeys shall end. Will their paths meet again? Or will Lorna run to another house?

Message: | Minnie (continued): I'm not sure that if I were a young girl I would aim at that. On the other hand, you might just hit the jackpot. To do that you have to be truly original - and very, very lucky. I feel myself lucKy because I earn a reasonable sum of money and do enjoy writing - but I think you should aim at a career and keep writing for a part-time occupation - until you hit the New York Best-Selling List!

Message: | Dear Minnie, I must be very honest and say that I don't think it is a career that any young person should aspire to. Normally, if you are lucky, you get a £10,000 advance on a book - if it does well it goes on to earn you about £6,000 or £7,000 a year aferwards - if it's a flop, well, that's that. Of course if it's a wonderful best-seller, well that's a different matter entirely, but that's like winniing the lottery. Everyone hopes it might happen, but realistically the chances are very small. I became a writer after retiring from a successful career as teacher & headteacher (school principal) so you could say spending three to four hours work at a computer is an interesting alternative to watching TV for a woman of nearly

Message: | 3,000 words! Woweee that sure is a lot of work to be doing! Thanks, Cora. It is great to get constructive criticism on my work from such a talented and established writer. Seeing your comments always makes my day. Thankyou so much :-). Can I ask a question regarding writing as a career? How would one get out of the house more often if one's main job was to sit at the computer to write? It's been puzzling me for months, seeing as I am quite lazy, and want to be a writer, I'd just like to know. Thanks Cora!! Minnie xx

Message: | Taiane: I wrote the book about Jane Austen because, having enjoyed her books so much myself I hoped that a story about her as a teenager would lead other teenagers into reading her great books, like Pride & Prejudice, for instance. When I read what Jane herself had written as a teenager (the Juvenilia) it gave me an impression of her character and it inspired me to write the diary from the point of few of someone who may have been a great friend to her at that time.
