Message: | Do you know, Emily, that would make a very good subject for a book. I've often wondered how Edward felt about leaving his big family of brothers and sisters and being handed over to a childless aunt and uncle. There is loads known about him - even a rather cute little silhouette picture of him being handed over. It's funny isn't it that the Austen's kept their first son, James, sent their second son, George, to live with a village family as he was handicapped and then allowed a rich cousin to adopt their third son. Try typing Edward Austen Knight into google and you will find a lot of articles about him - but it would make a good story, wouldn't it?

Message: | Dear Cora, I am absolutely facinated by Jane Austen and the clever way in which you have crafted your novel. One character who has fascinated me is Jane's brother Edward Austen who as you have taught me was adopted by a wealthy relative. But do you have any more infomation about him on the web. Could you possibly educate me and the world more about Edward and his situation? Thank you, Emily

Message: | I think that what you are saying, Taiane, is that you are writing a book about Lizzie's younger sister Mary. That is a great idea. As you say, there is very little about her in 'Pride & Prejudice' and that's good because the character will be your creation. I felt like that about Jenny in my book 'I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend' - although she was a real person, there was so little known about her that she became mine! Good luck with the project. As you going to make Mary as she was seen through the eyes of Lizzie (and sometimes, big sisters don't see the younger members of the family in a fair way) or are you going to stick to the image of her in the book. That will be an interesting question for you.

Message: | Olá, Cora! Tenho boas notícias! Comecei meu livro! Beijos, Taiane. :)

Message: | Aoife: I've put your story on - all the separate bits. I copied them into a Microsoft Word document first and then just pasted it in. I didn't have any trouble with it. Perhaps the large spaces you left between chapters didn't work or something. I'm not sure what happened as I have had long stories before and there has been no trouble. It's very good. I'm looking ofrward to the ending.

Message: | Dear Minnie, I don't know what happened. I did put it on (with my little netbook) but it must have failed for some reason. Anyway, it's on now. Minnie: It is a good idea to write your story in microsoft word, save it and then copy and paste into the story club word - one neer knows with the Internet and it's awful to lose something. Aoife: I will do yours tomorrow.

Message: | Have you ever noticed that some of the characters seem to be copied in the film the secret of Kells? For instance Malachy is an orphaned young boy who has been with the monks all his life and is soon to become one, a very skilled copier of books too but so is Brendan from the secret of Kells. And in your story Brother Mark and his cat also come into the secret of Kells as a monk from far away with his unusual cat. They both also want the young boys to finish working on the books that they were copying when they're gone.

Message: | Goodness, Aoife, that must be a very long time ago - in the last century in fact! It was probably about 1997 0r 1998. Minnie: I think that there are four of The London Murder Mysteries out now and the fifth will be out in the beginning of January. Débutantes is French, but it is used in English a lot. Young ladies of aristocratic (and rich) families used to be introduced to the king or queen when they were about eighteen years old and that was their introduction into society. They used to have a wonderful season, then - about six months of balls and house parties. Début in French means beginning and I suppose a débutante was at the beginning of her life as an adult. Over here in Ireland they have a Debs ball for the school

Message: | Minnie: it gives me a lovely feeling that you are looking forward to my book for Christmas. A great compliment for any author! I'l put your story on tomorrow - looks good! As for other books, you might like The London Murder Mysteries - listed on the first page of this website, but I have a feeling that my new book, the Debutantes, which will be out in the spring, might be more your sort of book. In a couple of days I shall see the proposed cover for the Debutantes and I can't wait. My editor says that she loves it! I
