Message:I seldom like poems from children - your teachers may disagree, but I think the struggle for a rhyme mostly means that they turn out trite and uninteresting. That's just me, but I am making a rule now:

NO POEMS, PLEASE

Message:Nora: I so agree with you. In fact, I rarely start a story before I get the name right. What I do for that, and for titles, is just to scribble a long list - anything that comes into my head - and it's important not to stop or be judgemental in any way.
Sometimes a name slips out and you stop and think - Yes! - but other times I just put the list away for a while and then come back and read it through.
By the way, I seem to have bits and pieces of stories from you - which one do you want to concentrate on?

Message:Hi..... Do you ever struggle to think up characters? Or think of characters names to suet the character? I think this is awful hard because if I get the name wrong the story doesn't sound right. Like the name Sarah, you'd think of a shy girl and then Chloe, you'd think of a confident girl.

Yes I enjoy it.
How did you get the idea of Titanic voyage? Seeing the film.

Lily: I promise to do it n February - I have two books to finish before the end of January sl I am really under pressure at the moment.
Minne: love the story - would you mind if I made a suggestion to leave it out the beginnng bit - it's more what one of editors calls 'back story' - something that the author has in their head and which will come out as the story unfolds.

Message:hi Cora! I read the book called"The secret of 1798." It's so cool! I always wondered what it would be like to have a French friend! I always loved reading! At school we have a book club but lots of people from 5th year and leaving cert are in it and I'm too scared to go to it. At least I have the library!Do you have any other books like "The secret of 1798"? I'll try and put in a new story and I hope it gets through to you! I'm writing a new story about a girl who's best friend killed herself because she was getting bullied very badly. I haven't written much because I only started last night. I have another story and it's about a girl who lives in the 1700's.I'll finish it as soon as I can!!!!! Thanks!

Message:Minnie: That sounds really, really interesting.
I have a book called The Debutantes' about four sisters coming out in the summer - have just seen the cover and it's very pretty. it just flahsed into my mind when I was reading your email that something like 'he Butterflies' would perhaps fit the double meaning - but in general I'm not great on titles. The best thing is to make a list - let everyone contribute and then put it away for a day or so and then go back and see which one grabs you the most.

Cora: It doesn't have to be exactly 300 words - it's just that I got a bit fed up with people sending a few lines and then not bother ing about it again.

Message:Hello, Cora.
I am finishing Country Tracks tonight as it is much too long for my liking.
Anyway I'm writing a book series about sisters. Its about these two girls who go with their mother to live with her boyfriend and three daughters. They discover ghostly secrets and delve deeper into their pasts....basically challenging the normal stereotypes of chick lit. I hope my stories can be deep and meaningful. Anyway, any ideas for the series' name?

Message:I've decided not to put on any rhymes (poems) or very short pieces of stories this year. It fills up the space and is quite a lot of trouble for me.
The best thing to do is to write the story on your word processing program and then sent it to me - if possible when finished - but have it at least about 300 words. It's too hard for me to say anything useful about something that is shorter than that.
